looking to get a new mini for music work,

hey all

i'm looking to get a new mac mini but cant get my head round. I want the M1 because of the chip and future compatibility with software but cant get as much ram as the intel one which is more expensive?

question is, is the "unified Ram" substitute larger amounts or Intel Ram? is "unified" meaninag much better?

thank you

AFAIK, Apple claims that the M1's unified memory is more efficient and can "perform" the equivalent to a larger amount used by Intel Macs. The current 2020 M1 model can be factory configured with up to 16 GB of RAM. It cannot be upgraded later.

I suggest that you shop with an Apple Specialist with your requirements. They should be able to steer you in the right direction. You still will have 14 days from the purchase date to return it for a refund if you are not satisfied.

For more information about unified memory, just do an Internet search and you should come up with dozens of articles.
