You are clearly frustrated that Apple are unable to help you release the Activation Lock on a device that is, currently, indistinguishable from a stolen device.

When spreading the word, do remember to point-out that you have been unable to resolve the Activation Lock because:

a) you failed to keep your AppleID account up-to-date with a valid email address for account and device recovery purposes - and

b) you cannot provide the necessary documentation to prove legitimate ownership of the device.

As it happens, for high value devices and items, yes - I keep all receipts and proof-of-purchase.

As for Apple purchases, most have electronic invoices issued as a PDF file via email - and/or are directly accessible from your AppleID account.

If you change email addresses, especially those associated with essential accounts such as your AppleID, it is your responsibility to ensure that you update your account as necessary.

No help at all. I have an iPad that was under a different email. Now I have and activation lock because I cant remember password. When I talk to support they said the only way I can unlock now is to produce a receipt for ipod. I try doing a recovery on password and I get the message that my address was not recognize my email address but then they tell me that's what my address is. No help without a receipt for an iPad a couple years old. iPad is useless now. Throwing it away. AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER APPLE PRODUCT. AND WILL LET IT BE KNOWN APPLE DOES NOT SUPPORT THEIR PRODUCTS.

You forgot the password not Apple. The blame is on you. They provide you a way to fix the issue, so saying they don't support their product is BS!! Both those Apple supported document links are helpful.

Best of luck to you.

Do you keep r ed ciepts for your devices after a couple years ? I think not. And wether I use my device and set it aside for a while is irrelevant. The fact is you tell me my account is under a certain email. And when I try to resolve the password issue YOU tell me it isnt a valed email address. WhIch is it ?
