My desktop picture is set to one photo, but if I slide across on my screen it comes up with old photos that used to be my desktop photo, how do I make it so even when i slide across it is still the desktop photo I have chosen, and not the old one

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

I think you're describing swiping to another desktop "Space." These are configured with the Mission Control.app which is in your Applications folder. Here's a good explanation of how to use Spaces. https://www.groovypost.com/howto/use-mission-control-spaces-in-macos-big-sur/
