Screentime, safari, app limits, allowed websites
This question has been asked dozens of time in various forms over many years without ever a satisfactory answer so I'm hoping someone at Apple will actually take the time to address this instead of another canned response with a link to how to turn on screentime.
My son is on virtual learning and using his iPad daily for school.
ScreenTime is configured to restrict content, set downtime, and limit time of use for all apps.
Safari is set as an allowed app under "content & privacy restrictions -> allowed apps"
App limits are set for all categories except Education.
Safari has no app limit set.
A list of educational apps are also set to "always allow". <- this works fine
Safari is not an option in the "always allowed" app list
Content restrictions -> web content is set to "Limit adult websites"
There are no websites added to always allow or never allow.
With the above configuration, test searches for adult terms are not blocked (I was able to search for and open the website pornhub) <- This feels like a major bug in the content filtering software
If I change Content restrictions -> web content to "Allowed Websites Only":
All websites are now blocked except sites listed in "Always Allow"
If I change "app limits" to "All Apps & Categories":
I immediately get the message "Time Limit" "You've reached your limit on {website name}" on every Safari webpage.
Adult websites are now blocked (pornhub now comes up as a restricted site)
I have to approve access to every website visited
If I add websites under "Content Restrictions" -> "Web Content" -> always allow they still require approval.
So how do I allow certain websites all of the time, while blocking adult content (limit adult websites) AND set a time limit for any website that doesn't meet the first 2 criteria, without me having to continually approve access?
Basically I want to be able to:
block all adult websites
set a time limit for all non-adult websites
whitelist certain websites to always be allowed regarless of time limit
Edit: Yes all of my devices have the lastest version of iOS, iPadOS, MacOS etc
