External Monitor turning off and back on randomly.

I had an external monitor (BenQ BL2711) hooked up to my Macbook Pro late 2018 i7. I stopped using it because the screen on the monitor kept turning off, for a couple of seconds and then back on again. I tried different settings in resolution, refresh frequency, USB-C to HDMI, HDMI to HDMI and displayport adapters. It just kept on doing this while I was photoshopping, web browsing or using any other program.

Last week I've obtained a new Mac Mini M1, hooked up the BenQ and again ik keeps blacking out randomly, up to 20-30 times an hour, really annoying. I thought the monitor was the problem here so I got a new monitor, and LG27UL650. Screenwise a great improvement over the BenQ but lo-and-behold, blackouts again!

I can keep on typing and drawing when the screen turns black, music keeps playing, just blackness for a brief moment.

The extension installed are Dropbox and Affinity Photo. Over time I've kept MacOS, and just about all the software I'm using up to date.

Any clues as to what might be the cause of this?

I have a new M1 Mac mini. I use a high bandwidth (8k) HDMI cable on my 4k monitor with absolutely no issues. Paid $13 on Amazon. Problems like this are usually caused by cables. Especially in your case when you have tried different monitors.
