Iphone 11 and iphone 13 pro camera - lighting flare issues

Hi all,

I am fairly new to photography, and I used to own an iPhone 11 before, but whenever I used to take photos in the nighttime, the lighting sources would ruin it. Whereas on the other hand, my friend with an iPhone 11 Pro max would not face such an issue.

So I upgraded to iPhone 13 pro but this issue still remains the same.

I don't know what it's exactly called, but looks like the street lights, and lights from cars appear flared up and streaked.

And the same issue occurs while taking a video as well.

Hello pooja_d,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We've reviewed your question and it looks like you are experiencing some lens flare in your iPhone photos. It's understandable that you'd want this clarified, so allow us to do so. When you take a photo or video on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you might see a flare, haze, or reflected spot. You might see these unexpected light effects when incoming light (usually from outside the field of view) is at an angle and reflects off the surfaces inside the camera. If this happens, move the camera slightly to change the position of the light, or shield the lens with your hand.

We do have a great resource for iPhone photography we’d like to share: Take amazing photos and videos.

If you have follow-up questions, please let us know. We're here for you. Have a fantastic day!
