Apple watch battery drain issue after update to OS 8.1

I have this apple watch 3 for 2 yrs without problem. But in September the update messed with its battery. It would shut off at ~40% battery and when I put it on the charger it shows 40%. This was fixed after unpairing and pairing again.

Update to OS8.1 cause the same problem, it shuts off at ~70% battery. And the unpairing trick doesn't work (which I tried three times). Now it's just a piece of crap on my wrist most of the day.

Please fix this big bug.

If the battery drains too fast after an update, see all the replies to:

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)

Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.

Thank you replying. And yes I’ve read all the replies from the two discussion. Tried unpair, reset to factory settings, repair several times. Tried restore from a backup or set as a new watch. Always die on 70% sharp, which is actually 0%. Sadly it’s still not working. Had been a week like this. Hope Apple can deal with this.

[UPDATE after 2wks of issue]

I went to genius bar and the staff told me I need to have the battery history for the technician to do diagnosis. So try to keep it for several days without erasing data before going into the store for help.

I unpaired and paired several times as the battery shut off level went from 40->70->80->93%. And it stuck at 97% on charger with overheating condition. I took it off and put it back on charger this morning and the capacity goes back to 20%, which seems like the problem solved. No update since the issue happened. I still can't figure how to deal with it. Maybe just wait for it, though it's really frustrating.
