iPhone X stuck in restart loop and Mac won't recognise iPhone to restore

So my iPhone X has been stuck in a restart loop. It occasionally tells me to go to apple.com/iphone/restore.

So I connected it to my computer when the first step (restarting the device) didn't work, however the phone wasn't being recognised in iTunes or in the finder sidebar. So I updated my mac to MacOS Monterey, but it seems that iTunes isn't available for this OS and my phone is still not being recognised in the sidebar (I have checked my setting to make sure that devices pop up there when connected). I imagine that this is because I cannot access my device to select the option to trust my computer on my iPhone.

This means that I have found myself in a restart loop without being able to connect my phone to my computer in order to restore it.

Any help on how to sort this out would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if you want any more information.

Thank you in advance!

rorycardy,

You're very welcome! If you haven't already, try these additional steps:

  • Use a different cable and different port on your computer, if available
  • Disable or temporarily remove VPN connections and security software
  • Ensure your Mac is updated: Update macOS on Mac

If the behavior continues at this point, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly to look into this more: Get Support

Take care!

Hello TammyW_03,

Thank you very much for your response.

I have tried all of the steps that I could, however the issue is that my phone won't turn on, it just keeps displaying the apple logo as if starting up each time I connect it to a power source. So, I can't unlock it to select trust this computer.

I have also tried to connect it to another computer, but it still won't be recognised. I've updated my mac to the latest MacOS too.

So I'm unable to select my iPhone on my computer as it does not appear in my finder window.

I am able to get my iphone to display "support.apple.com/iphone/restore", but cannot do anything with that given that my computer will not recognise it.

I really appreciate your responses, so if you have any more potential solutions, then it would be great to hear them.
