Why do my AirPods connect to my iPhone while in the case? I’m listening to music and it suddenly stops. When I look at the Bluetooth settings the pods are connected while both are in the case in my pocket. This is very annoying.

I would recommend disconnecting and forgetting your AirPods within Settings > Bluetooth.
Afterwards, force reset them and start the pairing process again.
