Left ear Airpods crackles like a blown out speaker

Left airpod crackles like a blown out speaker whenever I have 'Noise Cancelation' or 'Transparency' On. It's not happening when these options are turned Off. This isn't a user issue. I only use them at my desk for work (Zoom calls, phone calls, or listening to music). This started about a month after purchase. Unfortunately, I did not take advantage of the 3-month warranty and I am well past that date. Can these be fixed? Replaced? I've seen many posts about this issue but haven't seen any solutions.
