Why can't I multi select text? I hold down the command key but it doesn't multi select at all and I really need this function, seems ridiculous if they have disabled it?

See this closed thread from 2014 (among others, probably). Multiple text selection hasn't featured in Pages since Version '09, so appeals to Apple's feedback process may fall on deaf ears 😦
I just update to 12.1 and now I can select multiple text with Command key.

It doesn't work for me in Pages either. It's also not listed as an option in Page's Help.

What app are you using that doesn't work? It works fine here…
Apparently it no longer works in most Apple apps. It does still work in TextEdit. It still seems to work in third-party apps.

Well, the screen shot I posted was from Firefox. TextEdit, LibreOffice, Bean, Affinity Publisher work for me. Those are the ones I tested.

says it should work:
"Select multiple items: Press and hold the Command key, then click the items (they don’t need to be next to each other)."
May be unrelated, but I am unable to use COMMAND key to select multiple items from a list across several platforms/apps.
Using SHIFT key to select a group of sequential items also does not work.
For example, if I go to DESKTOP and click on one photo I have stored there and then hold down COMMAND key and click on second photo, it does not work. Only the first file/photo is highlighted.
Or, if I click on one file on a list and then hold down the shift key and click on 5th item in the list, only the first file is highlighted.
Found an old support post suggesting I shut down my computer, unplug everything, wait 10 minutes then start up and problem would be fixed. That did not work.
Frustrated and can't find a fix in support forums.
Yep that's exactly what we are having, its so annoying when trying to format a book grrrr, hope someone can work out how to fix it :-)
