iPhone compromised

Received a text from Apple that my phone has a Trojan virus due to going to certain websites. And my phone is exposed. Informed to go to Apple store and get a free App to fix this.

Your iPhone is not compromised. That is a phishing attempt. Apple does not send out those types of messages, the iPhone cannot have a virus. Delete the message and do not do anything with it. You do not need to go any store and buy anything.

That seems unlikely as Apple doesn't send unsolicited text messages.
