27" iMac ATI HD 5750 Starcraft 2

just wondering if any new imac owners also have starcraft 2 and can tell me if you can pull off ultra graphics settings at full resolution without any problems. i am looking at getting the i7, but if you have the i5 feel free to chime in too. thanks.

Got the i5 - can't run everything in SC 2 in Ultra - Shaders have to drop down and then it seems to run around 35-40fps in native res. I'm returning my i5 tomorrow though due to the hard drive noise - so may change it for an i7 if they stock it.

I'd like to know how it is after the graphics update that came out today.
I doubt the CPU would make much of a difference because all the shaders rely on the GPU performance.

I'd also like to know how the game runs under Windows 7 64-bit via bootcamp. If the game can be run on Ultra under Windows, that would be good enough for me.

Core I7 2.93 8GBRAM 1GB Nvidia... no problems running SC2 on ultra @ 25xx x 1440. Turboboost ftw 🙂

Tried it out and I can get it running in ultra with just shaders reduced down a notch on Windows 7 64-bit

and can you tell me more about playing sc2 with your iMac?
1. do u lag when playing 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 more?
2. what is ur average fps?

how come u hv the same setting with the user above ur reply box but u need to set shaders down??

I have the mid 2010 imac i7. SC 2 runs about 30 fps for me if I reduce the shaders a notch. I have been playing mostly campaign and 2 vs. computers.

I hope someone can get the i7 to run on ultra settings. It stinks to pay $2200 for a new computer and still not beable to run a game on it's max settings.

Can you play on Ultra with the latest iMac 27" i5 2,8GHz (ATI HD 5750) in Bootcamp? If so what fps will you get?

I am curious to know too.
I am still hesitating between keeping a PC (quadcore with GTX480) and just getting the new 27" display or "upgrading" for an iMac with lower graphic specs...
I'm not doing that much game but definitively wants to play the major blizzard games (inc. diablo III, "when it's done")

Tomaky, I'm a PC user thinking about getting the 27" i5. Sure it stinks not being able to run a game on max settings, but I wonder how many PC's can run the game on ultra at 1080p+?

Well Apple finally had some returns so I took the leap and bought one. The first thing I installed was Starcraft 2. When I fired up the game the first thing I did was max out the resolution as well as everything to ultra. I have had no problems with bad framerate, slowdowns, etc. It runs great. Even when I spam all of my carriers and collosi under the cloak of the mothership. Not sure if the graphics update a while ago fixed everything or what but it runs perfect for me. 27" iMac, Intel Core i7 2.93 Ghz, 4 GB ddr3 1333. So for those of you considering buying it I would definitely say do it.

thats good to know! a few more questions. Did you run the game in windows 7 using bootcamp? what resolution did you run it at? and how low did the fps get during an intense battle on creep? Thanks alot !!!

Haven't had any problems till 10.6.5 came out. updated this morning and SC2 has crashed my i3 4 times. not sure what happened with this update.

Are you running Textures on Ultra as well? Because I am getting major chug on ultra settings. I've had to set high everything and still have very long load times and lag on level start.
