After upgrading to macOS Monterey, Sidecar is missing

Like stated above after upgrading, Sidecar is missing on my MacBook Pro. My biggest issue is that I used my ipad at home as a 3rd display, connecting to another monitor simultaneously trough apple tv. This upgrade doesn’t allow me to do that.

Kind regards,

Arnar

I found a very simple solution to this problem:

  • Go into bluetooth settings on your iPad.
  • Find your Macbook in the list of connected devices.
  • Tapping the Macbook should show a message along the lines of "No longer able to pair with Macbook. Forget the device and pair again." with the option to forget the device. Go ahead and forget the Macbook.
  • Now, if you try to pair it again, you will get a notification that it isn't supported. However, at this point, if you go into Settings > Display > Add Display, you should see your iPad on the drop down menu.
  • Select the iPad from the Add Display drop down menu. It should automatically connect your iPad as a secondary display.

To be clear: before unpairing the Macbook from my iPad, my iPad would NOT show up in the Add Display drop down menu. Only after going through the unpairing process was it available to select.

I have a Macbook Air 2020 and iPad 8th generation. I used to be able to Sidecar under the old software. But now I tried following these directions but do not see the "Add Display" option under Displays. Any idea what else I can do?

Try connecting the iPad to your Mac with a cable and see if it appears in the Add Display button.

That button will only appear if it can detect an Airplay device on the network.

Make sure your iPad and Air are on the same WiFi network.
