iPhone 13 Pro Max Microphone not working after update to IOS 15.1.1

Hey there!


I'm a new Apple user, who just switched from Android to IOS. So I've got myself brand new apple devices like a week ago. The devices are (iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Airpods Pro).


After setting my iPhone up for the first time with all of the apps and settings that I felt suitable for my daily use, everything was so smooth and great! Didn't notice a single issue with anything and I was overall so happy and satisfied.


A couple of days later, I noticed that there is an IOS update available (IOS 15.1.1), so I went for it.

Then all of a sudden, the speaker Microphone stopped working in every app/feature/service that uses it.


For instance, Siri, phone calls on speaker, or any VOIP app calls on speaker, Voice Memos, and Dictation. All of them are now not working at all.


Attempting to diagnose the problem, I did try to:

  • Restarting the device.
  • Resetting all settings.
  • iTunes update in recovery mode.
  • iTunes reset in recovery mode both with backup and without.

But nothing seems to work.


Some observations based on this article "If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support":

  • I recorded videos with cameras on both sides, and my voice was crystal clear.
  • Using "Voice Memo" the record got no sound at all. Just static.
  • While on Facebook Messenger call with speakers on, the other end won't hear me until I switch the mic in the control center from "Standard" to "Voice Isolation".


Sorry for being lengthy, but I'm a bit disappointed really. Because the phone is just a couple of days old and I barely touched it.

Seems the next step is to contact Apple for Support.
