Apps constantly refresh when I switch between them
This is a problem that has been getting progressively worse. It's most frustrating in Instagram, where I may switch to Messages or Mail to answer a message, then return to Instagram. When I do this, Instagram appears to restart, showing the launch screen with the app icon, before showing an refreshed feed. I lose my place and that's annoying.
It happens in Google workplace apps, such as Docs, Drive, or Mail, frustrating when I have navigated to a specific document or email and then lose it every time I switch apps.
It happens in Firefox.
It happens in map apps such as Fulcrum and Avenza, which I use for work and switch between frequently, making it hard to do my job.
And it's started happening with Spotify, which is especially obvious when my music stops playing in the background.
I don't typically close out of apps more than once or twice a day, and I'm not qutting an app in these situations, I am switching between them. It happens whether or not battery saver mode is on or off. It is independent of Background App Refresh, as it happens whether or not that is on, and as I mentioned the apps aren't simply active in the background, they fully refresh and lose any cache when I switch between them.
I have restarted my phone. I have updated all the apps I mentioned, as well as the OS. If anything, the problem has gotten worse since the updates and restart.
I have seen this problem mentioned by many, it's often confused with Background App Refresh, and I have not seen any solutions presented. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251116558?answerId=252125568022#252125568022 This thread starts to get close, but Lawrence stops short of suggesting a solution.
