Complimentary 7 day AppleCare+ activated before I have the laptop

I've ordered a new MacBook Pro from the online apple store over a month ago ad it comes with complimentary 7-day AppleCare+. I haven't received the laptop yet, but the AppleCare+ is already activated. By the time I'm due to receive the machine, the AppleCare+ expires the next day.

I called up about it and support said it's from the time of purchase. I complained. They said there's nothing they can do - it's a policy thing.

It seems ridiculous that I don't even have the machine yet and AppleCare+ has already been activated. There should be a way to activate AppleCare upon receiving the machine, otherwise, it's next to useless.

I think it's an Australian offer due to a change in our consumer laws about not being able to sell additional insurance until 4 days after the purchase date. Don't ask me why!

AppleCare+ does offer you cover for accidental damage (2 incidents in 12 months) and priority support, so there is a benefit there.

TBH I think it just seems really illogical and unfair to me - it's probably not all that big a deal. Unless I spill my drink on my computer in the first 7 days of ownership - then I will be fuming.
