iPhone 12 - .5 camera issue

The .5 camera does not work when I want to take videos & photos. Rather it defaults to 2x when I open the camera automatically and then only lets me zoom to 1x maximum (unless I’m shooting in slow-mo / Timelapse for some reason) I’ve tried the {Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings > Switch those settings off > Reset phone} suggestion; but unfortunately was unsuccessful in fixing the issue. Does anyone have any other ideas / suggestions by chance? It would honestly be greatly appreciated.
