Spotlight Not Indexing on MacBook M1 Max

I've noticed that Spotlight doesn't display my search results anymore on my MacBook M1 Max. I found a fix in System Preferences of adding a folder to the Prevent Spotlight from searching option / then removing the folder. This fixes it only for like one or two searches then it is gone again. It seems to be finding results just not displaying them. Seems like an OS bug. Anyone else dealing with this or found a permanent solution?

spotlight will not search ANY folders- all searches not on the whole drive come up blank. Whole drive searches are useless. How to fix this? New Macbook pro running Ventura 13.5.1 I can't get spotlight to function except via whole HD searches- not folders (any), not mail. Bookmark searches in Safari also don't work. this is handicapping me at my job and I need a fix. I have double-checked Spotlight privacy settings-- nothing is private (or ever was). I have tried using terminal to re-index, using "sudo mdutil -E /" and then entering my password-- It didn't re-index, just gave the immediate response "indexing enabled." Please help.

Problems with Spotlight on Monterey Hello everyone. I just got a new MacBook Pro M1 Max with Monterey on it, and I am having a problem with Spotlight. I have been a Mac user for the past 30 years, and since Spotlight was launched, I have been able to both show the location of the file by holding down the COMMAND key and go to the folder where the file is located by holding down the COMMAND key and clicking on the file itself. With this new version of MacOS (Monterey 12.2.1) I can no longer do that. The file path is not shown when I hold the COMMAND key while a file is selected, and if I click on a file by holding the COMMAND key, Spotlight just opens the file. Any thoughts on that? Is there anything I must set or change to make that happen again? The way it is now Spotlight is 50% useless for me. Thank you in advance for any thoughts!
