trade in value still charged after returning laptop

Hi there guys.

I really feel like I’m going insane with this issue and apple customer support (tier 1) is also going crazy it seems.

I ordered a 13” MacBook Pro. $1299

i submitted a trade in instant credit amount ($1160 off the $1299)

i recieved the new laptop in the mail.

I wanted to return it (based on its very few USB ports)

I brought it into the store and they returned it and I asked if I can cancel the trade in as I want to buy a new laptop and use my old one to trade in for that one..

they said no problem we just cancel the trade in, you don’t have to send it in.

today, I was charged $1160 on my Apple Card for not returning… even though I returned the new laptop that the trade in value went towards…

what is going on here! Please help. Why would I be charged this amount?
