cases for MacBook Pro 13" M1

Hi! I've just recently purchased a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro and am trying to ensure I look into all the ways I can properly care for it and keep it safe. I had purchased both a hard-shell case and sleeve for my laptop but am seeing mixed reviews about whether or not I should use a hard-shell case on it or simply use a sleeve.

What would be the recommendation? Does the hard-shell really damage the hinges on it or is it a matter of how well one cares for their device? Appreciate any and all insight. I just want to make sure I protect it well since this has been a huge investment and want to be able to use it for a while.
