fixing drivers issue on mac

Hello everyone

I got an M1 macbook air 4 months ago that had macOS 11 on it. This is my first macbook ever.

I dont use any peripherals except a typeC hub (promate uniport C4, has a small LED on the side) that allows me to plug a USB 3.0 .

When i updated to macOS 12, i remember that i had the hub plugged in, i pressed install macOS 12, and i went to sleep. The very next day i woke up, OS12 was installed, but the hub is no longer working. I tried a restart, plug hub in other port, multiple USB3.0, and a wired mouse. The mouse (which is running on my dekstop) is not detected by the macbook, but the LEDs of the mouse are on meaning there is electric current. The laptop ports are also fully functional.

Now i dont have another hub to test, but my hub is fully functional on my sister's macbook (OS11) so the problem i'm having is a driver problem i guess.

Worst case scenario, i'll buy a new hub and test it on my laptop in the shop before paying for it, but i would like to ask for your feedback first.

Thanks in advance

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.0

Does the USB Hub required a Manufactures Software installed to make it function ? If Yes, check with the maker of this Hub for compatible Software updates for Monterey and Specifically for the Apple Silicon M1 CPU.

If the USB Hub did not require third party software to make it function - there is an update to Monterey released Monday Dec 13 to version macOS 12.1 which may or may not address your issue about USB Hubs not functioning .
