Ho do you use Tap Tempo in GarageBand for Mac 10.4.5

Ho do you use Tap Tempo in GarageBand for Mac 10.4.5? The help file mentions it, but doesn't specify how to use it. Is there a keyboard shortcut needed to get to it, and if so what is it?

The "Tap Tempo" button appears, when you create a new project.

  • Start GarageBand
  • Go to File > New Project
  • Select to create a new, empty project, for example.
  • Then reveal the Details in the new project.
  • The Tap Tempo button is to the right of the Tempo button

Usually I prefer to use the tempo track, so I can have a variable tempo throughout the project.
