6 month old MacBook Air M1 reporting that battery requires service

Macbook Air M1 (2020) running Big Sur 11.6

After 13 charge cycles, the battery capacity has been reduced to 67%.

Under normal use, 1000 cycles usually leaves the battery at 80% capacity, according to Apple.

Looking online, it seems this is a well-known issue.

Some users report correcting the issue by calibrating the battery.

Others say it's an issue in Mac OS Big Sur.

Please advise if this can be fixed in software or if the hardware is faulty and must be returned to the store.

If it tells you service is recommended, contact Apple Support direct to help you set up a Genius Bar Appointment at an Apple Store or if no Apple Store is near by ask them for a nearby Authorized Apple Service Provider and have them email you any repair authorization that may be needed.

What you see is not normal and is indicated you have a bad battery. It happens as there is no way to tell when a battery is new whether it will last 10 days or 10 years. It is just he nature of batteries.
