You can use a SanDisk iXpand-flashdrive, see:

You can use the SanDisk iXpand-flashdrive as an external hard drive, or as a tool to save the photos to a real external hard drive afterwards.

They are available in various sizes, available at Apple Store and at Apple Authorized Service Providers.

iXpand-flashdrive app can be downloaded from the App Store.
