Glass can be scratched. The Aluminum Apple Watch comes with glass which is harder to shatter, but that doesn't mean it can't be scratched as you've now learned. Apple won't cover the scratch under warranty as that is cosmetic damage. You could have purchased the Stainless or Titanium Apple Watch, which is more expensive, but they have Sapphire Glass, which is very difficult to scratch. There's a reason the Stainless and Titanium watches cost more.

To avoid future scratches, you can buy a screen protector for your Apple Watch. Best Buy sells them. Amazon has loads of options as well. They're inexpensive and fully protect the screen on your watch.

I scratched my apple watch 7 within 1 week. Now I'm stuck at looking at scratched watch for the rest of the ownership and apple could not care less. This should not be this easy to scratch, apple moved backwards with screen development on watch 7. I can't believe screen protector is mandatory on $700+ watch, meanwhile I owned multiple Fitbits and and all 3 screens are perfect. I have to admit, once I switched I was hooked on apple watch but why does quality have to suck so much?

I’m so disappointed. I had an Apple Watch 3 for almost 4 years and sold it to upgrade to a new Apple Watch 7. My previous AW3 had no scratches AT ALL, and let me tell you that I did hit it a few times during those years of daily use. It was in mint condition. I’ve been wearing my new AW7 since a couple of months and have a huge scratch already. Seriously Apple 🙄

Got the exact same problem! My 3 months old apple watch 7 has scratches all over the screen and it's even chipped. I know they can't repair it with warranty, but i bought it with the expectation that it won't damage so fast because of all the advertising apple has done. But although the warranty doesn't cover it, i know theres a law called consumer law which gives me the right of free reparation because i was fallacy informed about the quality of the watch. But the apple worker rudely tried to tell me that it's normal for a €550 watch to get damaged so fast, and didn't help me at all. I'm really disappointed in the service, i'm a true Apple fan, got all the products, never had problems with them till now. I don't think i'll ever buy through Apple again!

Same here. Just got my AW7 maybe a month ago and today I noticed a pretty deep gouge scratch, right in the middle. This is my third AW and never scratched the first 2. If it’s not on my wrist (and I’m mostly at home) it’s on the charger. How a scratch that looks like THIS is possible is beyond me. I’m not happy with this Apple purchase (I have/had MANY Apple products) and it’s the first time ever.

Apple has removed my post, slap in the face 2 weeks after buying my watch 7 but same thing, I spent so much money and 2 weeks in I’m left with a watch with scratches across the screen. It was advertised as better screen… I don’t know what to think and every time I raise my watch to check time I’m reminded how badly I got screwed. 0 help from apple. This watch should come with screen protector by default if you make it so easy to scratch.

Only had my Apple Watch 7 for a month and it’s got a pretty good scratch on it. I’m very careful with my stuff and I have no idea how this happened. I owned an Apple Watch 3 for many years without any issues. I never even knew they made protective covers for them as I’ve never had any issue until now. This is unacceptable. Quality is going downhill. I guess I’m out of luck with any recourse?

I got mine last April 2022 and to my surprise, 4 months after, there are visible scratches to the watch face. It's really disappointing. My old watch was AW series 3 and I have been using it to nearly 3 years and there are no scratches on the watch even if I was not putting some screen protector and other accessories. I hope this will be addressed by Apple because we have been paying a lot for this product, yet it's a bit disappointing.

I couldn’t be more disappointed. I just received my new AW7 two weeks ago, after labouring over the decision of which model to buy. The claim that this is the “most durable screen ever” justified my decision to go with the more expensive model. It scratched so easily…literally getting out of the shower! And to find out there is zero recourse through AppleCare or repair kits makes it even worse.

Apple watch 7 screen is a joke, advertising better screen quality is falsifying information about the product. It is insane at this price range to make screen so bad, I expect it from aliexpress $50 knock-off not authentic Apple product. I mean after spending 1k I got scratches after 1 week of ownership. Best Buy will not take it back now and I'm stuck with a watch I look at with disappointment every time I check time. Is there any repose from Apple?
