Mac mini 2018 or later
found the answer somewhere, 5 months ago among developers having the same problem with the beta version... here:
By starting the update using the command line, I was able to bypass the secure token/owner check from the Software Update pref pane:
sudo softwareupdate -i -a -R
-i Install
-a All appropriate updates
-R Automatically restart (or shut down) if required to complete installation)
seems to work fine!
im the only admin. still cant update, asked to the owner. help, how should i do.
removed above products... restarted, shut down and restarted - no success still... Mac mini M1 issue probably = my MacBook M1 with both softwares had no problem updating... same setup...
did not find anything serious or minor... mystery persists
Thanks for the info and explanation. I have no idea how the problem occurred on a new MacMini without any particular tweaks…
it’s not a big deal to use the sudo script I mentioned earlier…
I have the same problem. The only change made to my computer was doing an OS software update from Monterrey to Monterrey 12.01.
It sounds like you have a file permissions problem to me.
Have your tried to run Applications > Disk Utility > First Aid ?
