It sounds like you're using the vendor driver. Does the "filter failed" message go away if you add the printer with AirPrint?

If you want to know what filter failed, you can enable cups debug logging in Terminal:

cupsctl --debug-logging

print a job and then search for what filter crashed in /var/log/cups/error_log. But it's likely something Epson will need to solve - updated drivers?

Hope this helps.

unable to locate driver for printer WF-7720

Drivers are not required for a Mac since that is an Airprint printer.

I face the same problem today using an Epson L361 on USB cable for the last 3 years without a problem.

Am able to print directly from Draftsight (DWG CAD software), but from other apps like Preview of Abobe Reader the error message occurs: Stopped - 'Filter' failed.

MacBook Pro 2019

Epson L362 is not WiFi enabled.

Looked at the Mac printing solutions, but nothing seems to fit the problem.
