Spotify Crashing on Apple Watch SE

Hi there - I have an Apple Watch SE running Watch OS 8.3. I use the Spotify app and listen to music through my watch when running with my AirPods. Recently, I am unable to run Spotify on my watch alone. It keeps crashing when I run Spotify without my phone nearby. When I try to open the app on my watch, it crashes immediately. When I have my phone nearby and run it and switch to my watch, it works momentarily then crashes. I have tried to reinstall the app. My watch is updated to the latest Watch OS. Any ideas?

Hi there noexit1280,

We want to help get your watch working with Spotify without any issues.

Let's start with some basics:

  1. You mentioned having watchOS 8.3, which is the latest version, but what's the iOS installed on your iPhone? If you have a compatible model, the latest version is iOS 15.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. You already tried deleting/downloading the Spotify app to your watch, but have you done the same on your iPhone?
  3. Has a restart of both devices been tried since this first began to occur?

Cheers!

Hi bruno75 - Thanks for taking the time to help me solve this problem. Unfortunately, your suggested method did not work. I updated to iOS15.2; deleted and reinstalled Spotify on both my phone and watch, and restarted both devices. After doing all of this, I tried to download an album to my watch, and it has failed to download on three occasions.

Is this a bug that needs fixing with an update? Are there others experiencing this issue?

Your help is appreciated.
