MacBook Pro M1 is playing iMessage sounds through its own speaker. However, I`ve got EarPods plugged in and am watching a movie (sound playing through the EarPods). I`ve also got the headphones selected as audio output device. Can anyone think of any solution? This is annoying because I don't want people next to me being annoyed by my incoming text messages.

To confirm, does this happen with every pair of wired or wireless headphones you use or only when you use the EarPods?

It seems to have gone away now. I'll keep you updated (not sure but the update to 12.1 might have fixed the issue)
