This is a brand new Mac mini. I have a Time Machine backup to restore is I can get the operating system to install.
The Device list is showing a Disk Image of the Time Machine, but cannot restore it. The Time Machine disk is no longer connected.
Disconnect the external drive that you are booting from. Startup holding down the startup button and click on the Gear Icon, It is the Option to install on your internal drive.
Confusing, why isn't the time machine disk connected? Is this a M1 Mac Mini or an Intel version of processor? You should be able to upgrade to MacOS Monterey 12.1.
Creating fresh time machine backup. I reformatted backup disc to original.
New mini is M1. I am showing "Apple disk image Media" in the View: Show all devices. It contains macOS Base System, but the location is External. How do I get rid of it and start fresh?
