Nothing happens when I attempt to run Diagnostic Test for M1 MacMini

When attempting to run Diagnostic Test on my new M1 MacMini running MacOs 12.1,

I shut down, disconnect peripherals other than Display;
Restart by holding Power Key until Options Screen appears;
Then In hold down Command-D, but nothing happens.

How do I run Diagnostics?

Mac mini, macOS 12.1

I would appear you have to be in the Startup Manager before holding down Command + D. see following link:

Try using a USB keyboard to enter the Command + D input.

The link in Mac-Cafe did not solve the problem. Its instructions on how to get to Diagnostic testing are very different than Apple Support. Neither work for me.

Switching from bluetooth keyboard to USB wired keyboard solved the problem.
