Stuck on preparing video

The video is stuck on “preparing video” and nothing happens. It’s so frustrating. I got a iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with a video stuck on "preparing video".

Can you further describe where you see this? Is this in the Photos app, Camera app or iMovie?

Have you restarted?

Is the iPhone updated to iOS 15.2? Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

This is in the Photos app.

In Photos app - go to Albums - then go to People & Places. Then click on any of the person picture. You can then get a short video of pictures/videos etc from your photos collection. Try to send this out by Whatsapp or Save File in any other folder. The next thing you see is the screen stuck on "preparing video" & nothing happens.

Yesterday I visited an Apple shop & got my problem diagonised. According to Apple staff, there seems to be a bug in this app whereby any "video" or 'live" photo prevents the app from preparing the video. We could successfully send out the video only AFTER deleting/hiding all videos & live pictures from the file.

Hope Apple manages to find a solution to this problem with a suitable software update.
