I need to cancel my hulu subscription through itunes immediately so that I can sign up for hulu live tv through hulu. Hulu support said that I needed to get in contact with Apple to have my subscription canceled immediately.
Rather than contacting Apple, you need to cancel it under your Apple account.

Hulu was correct if you need it ended immediately. Subscriptions will continue until the expiration date. Canceling them just tells them not to renew after that date. (The Related Article at the top of this page tells you how to do this, but only for them then to continue to run until they expire naturally.) To have it end before that date you need to contact Apple and explain you need it to end immediately.
