Having the same issue on my late 2016 intel MBP — went through all the steps detailed on your link, which did not solve the issue.
When i called customer support I was told this is a hardware issue — the hardware worked fine up until the minute Monterey finished loading. While it could be a coincidence, it seems strange that other people have had the exact same experience. Please provide a software update that fixes this issue.
I installed a fresh clean version of Mojave. Camera does not work. I accidentally booted into the Windows partition on my MacBook and thought, well, try the camera here. Does not work.
So, apparently there is some kind of firmware update in Monterey that breaks the builtin camera.
VERY disappointing Apple!
Admit and fix, please!
At first, I saw this issue earlier this year with one 2017 Macbook Pro. For this machine, the camera simply stopped being recognized by the system shortly after a BigSur upgrade. No troubleshooting helped here to revert the situation. At an Apple Authorised repair center, they suggested replacing the camera (Replace display). We did not go for it as it costs around € 500.
A couple of months later, I already have 3 machines with the same issue. For the 2 others, the camera stopped working from one day to another. Sometimes an SMC reset will make it work again, however, this is temporary, and most likely next day it will stop working.
I really don't think that these 3 MacBooks got the same hardware (camera) issue over such a short period of time. (The 3 MacBooks are from 2016-2017 and all run BigSur or Monterey)
Good day,
Did you get this sorted out? I upgraded this morning to Monterey 12.5 and literally right after the update I had a scheduled zoom meeting and just like that - no camera. Please tell me you have an answer for me. Tried all the troubleshooting tips, but nothing works.

Seems restarting Mac fixes the "no-camera" problem.
However the problem eventually re-appears.
Although tiresome, restart continued to fix.
Now with update to Monterey 12.6 seems there is no longer any "no camera" problem..
Hi Brbo,
Monterey 12.6 is not out yet, at least not for me ;)
I tried latest release 12.5 with 2 of my affected MacBooks (MBPr 2016) and the problem is still there :(.
Unfortunately these old macbooks won't be compatible with Ventura, so wasn't able to try that beta either.
Whoops .... thank you! Yes, you are right!
Apologies! it was the update to Monterey 12.5 that helped with the camera on my macBook Pro.
Very grateful am no longer restarting again, and again, as the "no camera" appeared.!
Did find that Safari > Preferences > Websites > Camera ...
needed to be re-set (ticked) to Ask or aAllow (not Deny) for some apps (eg: Zoom).
My internal camera is not working on my 2019 Apple MacBook Pro, updated to Monterey 12.3.1. FaceTime, photo booth, Zoom
Tried several solutions online. Restarted

Filmora Detects Facetime HD camera too, but is unable to project any imagery.
Upgraded to 12.4 last night.. Still the same issue. Facetime & Photobooth non working as usual.
Same, no external cameras that were previously working on Big Sur work in 12.2. Sony nor Canon with their installed apps.
That’s the first thing I tried! I went through all the steps in that video. Then called Apple and they had me do the same steps again 🤣
thank you :)
Same, the system report shows the camera with all its details but software is not picking up any signal from the sensor..
Update: I downgraded to BIG SUR from Monterey, and the camera started working. But as soon I received safari update I lost camera again.
Such a bummer.
Anybody try 12.4 yet? There is reference to it Fixing The Studio Display's Webcam, so hopefully it fixes the webcam in general!
