Not able to search in Folder in Finder

I have managed to fix this. (For reference, I have tried re-indexing Spotlight using command line, and does not work).

1. Open System Preferences and go to Spotlight's Privacy tab.
2. Add the entire hard disk INTO the Privacy list.
3. Maybe wait 30s.
4. Remove the hard disk FROM the Privacy list.

Spotlight will re-index. After finish re-indexing, the search in folder works for me.

(To see if Spotlight is indexing, use Command+Space to invoke Spotlight, and type in something. Wait a second. You should see a progress bar to show indexing progress)

I also discovered a lighter touch version by adding and then subtracting the misbehaving folder from Spotlight search in Preferences.

I have the same exact problem. Searching "This Mac" works just fine.

But when I search a specific folder, the same exact way, the results are empty.

I have the same issue. Finder cannot search within a (any) folder. Searching "This Mac" is fine.

(MacBook Pro / M1 Pro, 14-inch, 2021 / macOS Monterey 12.1).

I have the same issue with my new Macbook Pro that I set up earlier this week. There is no indication that it is still indexing.

I recently performed a migration from a macbook pro to a mac mini M1 and I had this problem. The solution given by keganx worked for me.
