New MacBook Air (M1 chip) keeps losing 5G connectivity and knocking my other devices offline

My new MacBook Air (M1 chip) keeps disconnecting from my wifi connection on my 5G network. It's definitely the computer, since I never had this issue with my old Mac which I just replaced. The MacBook Air not only disconnects from the 5G wifi but it also kicks my other devices off the network. I don't have this problem if I use the regular non-5G wifi but obviously the connection is slower. I tried prioritizing the 5G network in my networks, renewing the lease, restarting the router/modem, restarting the computer, to no avail. Any suggestions?

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

Hi Manzana7654,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with a Wi-Fi network and your MacBook Air that won't stay connected. Did you mean this is a 5 GHz network?

Have a look at this article and recommended Wi-Fi settings: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points.

You have tried some great troubleshooting. It seems the issue has been isolated to your Wi-Fi network.

Have you contacted your router manufacturer or internet service provider to find out if there are any updates for the router? There may be a compatibility issue here.

Let us know what they say.

Have a fantastic day!
