Is it possible to roll back the TV OS to an earlier version like we can do on our Mac Book Pros and other devices? Would I just need to dig out one of my earlier Apple TV boxes and use it instead?

Perhaps if you explain why you want to roll back tvOS someone might have a solution. Millions of people are using tvOS without issues. What’s your issue?
You will see different options in Apple TV (the app) than you will in Netflix or HBOMax, just like you see different settings in Pages and Adobe Acrobat. Different apps have different settings.
Now maybe my Apple TV box has hardware issues. The settings are to confusing. And you haver almost the same settings in different places, in Settings and at the top of the screen. Now also in ITunes Movies just above the progress bar there are settings you can change. Now Netflixx and HBOMax say that they "push" everything in the stream. And that the Apple TV, through settings is how we can set things up and also change them. And now it is even worse as I have 3 MacBook Pro's, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones and also Apple Ear pods. And someone thinks having this access is good. No, I have to TURN OFF many Apple devices so they will not show up on the screen. Then the odd message about AirPlay shows up. And if I want to watch Netflix and also work on my iPad and also have a MacBook Pro open it is a mess. An earlier TV OS does not have these "improvments" and I really like my Apple TV. That is why I want to go back. It was simpler with a simple but easy to use interface.
