Battery drain on watch series 7

I just got the apple watch series 7 a couple of weeks ago and have been experiencing short battery life. Even with most functions/ background app refresh etc turned off, the watch can only last 10 hours after a full charge. It can barely get through a work day. Battery % drops close to 10% per hour.

Have tried resetting, unpairing etc, hasn't worked to resolve this issue.

This happened on watchOS 8.1.1 and 8.3.

Does any one else have this problem?

I agree. It drove me nuts too!

I ended up making an appointment with the Genius Bar because all other methods had failed me.

Was told that the watch battery was likely discharging abnormally.

Exchanged it for a new one - battery life seems ok on this one. But I will try it out for a few days first before making any conclusions.

I understand that and giving a potential solution is always welcomed and exactly why people come here to "complain" in hopes of finding a solution but you are missing my point completely. Saying "no one cares what you buy" is insulting and smacks of trolling to diss on what you see as complainers not taking the path you think they should. Was just trying to help you understand why you were accused of that.

I'm sorry that you read all sorts of things into what I said but I do understand that sometimes, people let emotion rule reason. And you seem to have missed my point: complaining here accomplishes little, if anything (but, if people want to do that, it's their time to waste). And, my time to waste when I keep suggesting avenues that might prove more fruitful.

My husband and I got AppleWatch 7's a when they first came out. They were GREAT. That all changed after the last update. We are unable to maintain a charge to last through the day--as one blogger said--loss of 10% per hour. We are disgusted with the performance of this watch. I have to carry a charger with me to plug in at my barn and in my car.

My husband is a runner and depends on his watch for keeping stats and for safety. He can make a phone call without carrying his phone. Imagine his displeasure when he gets a "low battery warning" in the middle of the day before he's even left work!

We are VERY UNHAPPY. Apple has let us down.

There is something definitely wrong here. Spend $1000 on a watch and you can't get over five hours use out of it. All the my older Apple watches will last at least 12 to 14 hours. The fact that you have to turn everything off in order to get at least eight hours of battery life out of $1000 watch is insane. I might as well use a sundial. It's more functional and it last about the same amount of time. I can get more use from a $10 Walmart watch. So much for quality in Apple products. Is just the beginning of the end of Apple... premium prices and crappy product. I'm on multiple Apple products. But I will think twice before I buy another one. I've been Apple customer for at least 20 years. Take all that profit you make and selling products and put it into engineering and quality parts.

It seems that ever since the 8.7 update, my Series 6 watch battery charges okay but drains extremely quickly. Everything seemed fine up to that point. Even if I charge it before going to bed, it will not make it through the night. Battery status indicates it at 85%. I have followed most of the suggestions for extending battery life listed here and in other online posts (resetting, re-pairing, dimming the display level, turning off notifications on all but a few apps, etc.) I am about 18 months into the J&J Heartline Study so that's how old the watch is. I would like to continue to participate, but I'm not shelling out $350 to have Apple troubleshoot it.

I’m experiencing the same issues after just getting the watch. My first day out of the box it only lasted 8 hours. It seems to be getting worse, despite trying the fixes tried here. I could not be more disappointed in this product. Why have all the features if you can’t use them?? What’s worse is I can’t even make it function for a working day without the bells and whistles on it. What good is a watch if it doesn’t last long enough to tell you the time? This is the second apple product I’ve bought lately that has been defective. I’ve been a die hard fan for over 20 years, but starting to really lose faith.

I’m having a similar problem. I will get several days of good battery life and then after about 3-4 hours the battery is into save mode. I have contacted Apple several times only to be told their diagnostics indicate no issue. So I unpair the watch and shut both the watch and my iPhone 13 Pro down. After several days the same scenario applies. 3-4 hours and it’s back to unpairing. Frankly I’m not happy. I bought additional cover from Apple but they don’t appear to have a solution or perhaps they just don’t care. It’s getting very tedious. All software upgrades on the watch and phone up up to scratch.
