Logic Pro 10.7.2 not getting audio from Zoom U-44

I'm using a Zoom U-44 interface via USB to an iMac running Big Sur 11.6 and Logic Pro 10.7.2. I'm ingesting DAT tapes from a Tascam DA-20 via S/PDIF coax. Some tapes are 44.1k, some are 48k sample rate.

Logic sees the device just fine. In fact, if I don't have the sample rate set to match the sample rate of the DAT tape, the U-44 doesn't even play audio from the headphone jack. If the sample rate is set correctly, it does. But when I record enable a track in Logic, I get no signal coming through. If I change the input on the track to internal microphone, I get signal.

I've done this exact same setup with a prior iMac months ago and it worked just fine.

I cannot figure out why this is no longer working, and it's infuriating. This should not be this difficult to set up.

Anyone out there got any ideas?

Are you running the latest firmware 1.10 dated 4/13/2021?

Prior setups don't count unless you are running the exact same software versions (MacOS-Logic), same type connectors....etc.

Do you have another Audio recorder, like Audacity to try out the Zoom with. Is it just Logic or system wide?
