If you are using an IMAP email account (which you will need to verify with your ISP) then it is as simple as turning on iCloud and ensure Mail is checked.

Yes, if she has her own Apple ID and you are not logged into her account then that would make sense. You may want to call AppleCare to see if they have a work around that fits your needs.
Actually it's my wife's iPhone where there is no sync between my iMac and the emails on her phone. The emails on my iMac, my iPad and my iPhone are all in sync. I think this is because on those 3 devices I am signed in with my Apple ID, whereas on my wife's iPhone she is signed in with her Apple ID. Does this sound like the problem please?
Thank you for confirming that, maybe the simplest thing is to sign out of her account & then I sign in with my ID on her phone. Just a bit concerned it says that if she signs out “find my iPhone” will be deleted. Perhaps you could kindly advise on that please?
