No Disk image mounter since upgrading to Monterey -can't open or unpack .DMG files

Just downloaded and installed Monterey. A short while later I download a free trial of Logic Pro after the Monterey upgrade and clicking on the downloaded DMG file does not open the disk image mounter. The DMG icon 'blinks' like it's going to open but nothing happens. I've tried restarting the computer, didn't change anything. I tried clicking while holding 'control' to use the 'open with > DiskImageMounter' and nothing happened.

I tried this with a couple of other DMG downloads and got the same results so that rules out the Logic Pro DMG being corrupt or otherwise no good.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks.

Yes. Booting into Safe Mode does the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

So try opening a dmg file in Safe Mode and then again after a normal reboot.

Found a USB keyboard and was able to boot up in safe mode. Double clicked the DMG file and I DID get the PKG file. Figured that was good enough and I could install the program contained in the PKG file when back in normal mode so rebooted in normal mode and the PKG file was gone and I STILL cant get the DMG to do anything.

Should I go ahead and install the program contained in the PKG file while still in safe mode THEN go back into normal mode? I appreciate the help from you folks.

I got my software installed while in safe mode, rebooted in normal and it's still accessible...all looks good. I STILL can't open a DMG in normal mode though. Also, about 75% of the time between when I said "on it now" and typing this message, was spent trying to reconnect my bluetooth keyboard. Clicking the bluetooth icon in Sytsem Preferences gives me an error message -"Preference Error -Could not load bluetooth pane". Something stinks with this Monterey upgrade for me as of now.
