Boot Camp Kali Linux
Hi! I want to install a custom version of Kali Linux (found here) on my mac as a dual boot. Is it possible to do it with boot camp or do I need to make a usb. If so can I use a .vmx file for that?

I agree with @dialabrain's suggestion of using a VM. People tend to get into trouble when dual booting systems because they almost always use the wrong partition sizes and sooner or later want to remove the other OS which many times causes the person to lose access to their data and perhaps prevent macOS from booting. Plus Linux does not yet work well on bare metal with USB-C Macs. Besides dual booting is always a pain, while accessing another OS in a VM is much easier, less disruptive, and more convenient
If you do want or need to install Linux on bare metal, then I highly recommend installing Linux to an external USB3 drive instead to minimize the chances of disrupting macOS.

Boot Camp is Windows only. I would suggest running Kali Linux as a VM in VMWare Player as suggested by the page you linked.
