Remote images no longer show on emails in either Mac Mail app or iOS mail app after 12.1 or iOS 15 updates.

After the updates, remote images do not appear. The remote image is from a different domain then the primary email, not sure if that is the problem. Side by side screen shots of Mail app and Gmail app

If I forward the message from Apple Mail app (Mac or iOS) to Outlook, the QRCode image is fine

Hi lowenstein63,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Seems some third=party (non Apple) apps like (quite unnecessary!) virus checkers, or content blockers etc. can interfere.

On Mac:

Change the "Remote images" setting in Mail > Preferences > Privacy >

On iPhone:

Try: Settings > Mail > messages > Turn on "Load Remote Images"

And / or, if needed:

Try: Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection > Turn off Protect Mail Activity.

(Turned on ... prevents senders (and spammers) from knowing whether you opened their email message)

Hope this works for you :-)

Thank you for letting us know.

Wondering if iOS 15.1 makes any different ...

On Mac OS 11.6 the setting is working well.

Mail > Preferences > tick "Load remote images" ...

and / or

select "Load remote images" at top right of individual e-mails.

There is a lengthy discussion on the settings in this linked discussion thread:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253327312

Seems something Apple may address in future upgrades,

if enough people have difficulties, and send their feedback.

There's a webpage form, for sending feedback to reach those who are in a position to make changes:

https://www.apple.com/feedback/mail.html

and / or

There is a "Get Support" link to Apple at top right on this discussion page.

All the best :-)
