MacBook Air Not Recognizing USB Printers After Update to 12.1 Monterrey

My MacBook Air would not recognize my Dymo Label Printer and a Brother InkJet this morning. Checked for software update and received the 12.1 Monterrey update. I'm still having the same problem after the update. I've reset the printing system and there has been no change. It still will not see any of the USB devices that are connect. I also have an Epson high speed desk scanner that's not being recognized.

Hey there, AndrewHMPalmer!

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

Being able to use your printer of choice (as well as all of your other USB devices) is super important! We can help you out here.

To start, we want to recommend that you try performing an SMC reset. This will not affect your data at all, it's not the type of reset that will return your computer to factory settings or anything like that. Here is how to do that: How to reset the SMC of your Mac. Once you do that, we recommend that you test the issue and see if it's good to go.

If you're still stuck, try the steps here: If a USB device doesn’t work with Mac

We hope this does the trick for you!

Cheers.
