Is your iPhone running iOS 12.3 or later? Then it should be compatible with the Apple TV+ service.
Do you like to watch TV on your phone for more than a few minutes? Probably not.
Most newish iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple TV box will have the Apple TV app to play Apple TV+ and other content.

The Apple TV box will help you play content on your TV screen, in particular with TVs that do not support the Apple TV app by themselves, although there are many more benefits to the Apple TV box.
