I've tried using the same password I do on my Apple devices also, and regenerating the password, and using "automatic setup" with the app specific password. I have a couple of Google email addresses, and a few mail.com email addresses which work fine with my windows mail setup. But the icloud account refuses to work, although I it worked briefly when I first set up the PC, but using a third party email client, and "sent" mail folders did not show up correctly.

Cannot sync icloud mail w/ new Win 10 laptop using Windows Mail App but no 2 factor authentication I just bought a new laptop with Win 10. I was able to get my verizon and gmail accounts to work in Windows Mail, but cannot get my iCloud mail (and more importantly Contacts) to sync. I saw a previous solution to fix the situation when you use 2 factor authentication for icloud mail. The suggested fix was to go into your icloud account, then in security ask it to generate an app specific password for Windows Mail, then put that app specific password in when setting up the icloud account in Windows Mail. However, that solution is not available if your icloud account does not use 2 factor authentication (which I don't want). So, how can I get my Windows 10 Mail to sync my icloud mail and contacts. I have an older PC with Outlook and I've used iCloud for Outlook on that PC and am able to sync my icloud mail and contacts in Outlook. Must I just add Outlook to my Win 10 laptop? Is that possible?

Icloud and Windows 10 email - two factor authorization? App Specific Password? Windows 10 PC and Windows 10 Email application. We are unable to get iCloud email account to fetch email. The windows 10 email application is just spinning its wheels. We are not presently using 2 factor authorization so there is no way to generate an app specific password it seems. The MS website is pathetic in explaining getting iCloud email to work. The Windows 10 email app does not even allow one to see the server settings - they may be wrong. Question: Does anyone know if the windows 10 email app requires two factor authorization or is it only an app specific password that is needed? That might answer my own question but can someone please explain. A google search shows many do not have a good understanding of what is going on. Thank you.

Instead of using your normal Apple ID password, you will need to use an app-specific password in the Windows Mail app for your iCloud mail account.
