How do I edit a burst photo in osx Photos (Monterey)?

Hi-

I am frustrated dealing with burst photos in Photos on my iMac. (Monterey Osx)

I want to keep just 1 of the 10 bursts, but I can't. There is no command or function I can see to unpack a burst photo.

I also don't see any Bursts group in my sidebar.

Please help! Thanks!

Separately, is there any way to permanently delete burst mode on my iphone?

iMac 27″, macOS 12.0

Hi akfromnyc,

It sounds like you need some help with your burst pictures and we can help.

How did you share your picture to your Mac?

Normally only one picture is shared if you share via AirDrop. Photos on Mac will import all pictures from a burst individually if you import the pictures.

If you open the Burst Photo on iPhone, you can use the Select function to choose your favorites and delete the rest.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks, but it appears that you are misunderstanding my question. I do understand all the nuances of how to import photographs from the iphone to the Mac Photos app.

My question rephrased: Once a full burst photo (with all 10 embedded photos) is in my OS X (Monterey) Photos app, how do I use the OS X Photos app to access the individual ten photos and delete all but 9, WITHIN THE PHOTOS APP, so that the PHOTOS APP is left with just one of the 10 photos underlying the original burst photo. Question has nothing to do with the iPhone.

Hi akfromnyc.

Once your content is imported they are no longer a burst, there is no burst group on your Mac, there are just 10 photos. You delete the photos as you would any other. If you only imported one of the 10 then you'll only have 1 photo to work with or delete.

Hi akfromnyc,

If you want to import just one picture, you'll follow the steps above to import just one picture using Photos.

If you want to delete the extras from the burst, select your favorite and delete the rest from your iPhone.

You cannot use your Mac to delete pictures on your iPhone with the import feature.
