Battery drain on MacOS Monterey

How to reduce the battery drain on MacOS Monterey?? Because even after turning off the low power mode there’s no difference.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.1

Turning Off Low Power Mode - what does one expect to occur.

Batteries are considered Consumable Products. Over time it will degrade to a point where it needs to be replaced. The usage is normal as the capacity will go up and down all the time and never stay always at 100%. Apple Batteries are rated for 1000 Full Battery Cycles and / or 80% Capacity before needing Evaluation or replacement.

For additional reading on Battery and Apple Computers this link may help. About battery health management in Mac notebooks and especially for the M1 and Big Sur  & Monterey If battery charging is paused or on hold on your Mac

Depending on the Age of the computer, some aspects from the above links, may or may not apply to your computer.

A feature introduced into Big Sur & Monterey was to preserve the number of Full Battery Cycles - there was an Algorithm coded into the macOS. It is perfectly Normal for Big Sur , Monterey to Pause / Suspend charging the battery beyond 80% and hold it at that level. One can nudge / over-ride this by clicking the Battery Icon on Desktop Top Bar and allow charging beyond 80%. From observations, it will Pause / Suspend again once reading 90%. Same procedure to over-ride and will charge to 100%

P.Phillips, I am suffering the same battery issues on my MacBook Pro 2018 after upgrading to MacOS Monterey. Other people are posting about this battery drain issue. There is a stark difference in battery usage after upgrading. My Mac battery has died multiple times while sleeping overnight with a good charge. I am aware of how the battery algorithm works and try to keep my charge at 50-80% for battery health.

By disregarding the reports of poor battery performance, you're reminding me of how Apple would gaslight people for pointing out the iOS update + throttling issues -> which turned out to be a known by Apple.

The Monterey Update has impacted battery performance. I use this device every day and it was immediately noticeable. It is not a battery "algorithm" issue because the device will use up the battery and shut down while the lid is closed and all software has been closed. It does not happen every night, but has happened to me four times to me since the first Monterey 12.0 update, and once with the 12.1 update. This is new behavior that began immediately after my Monterey 12.0 update.

This is exactly what has been happening to me. My battery now is overheating too. I have a macbook aid that I bought last year, new, and before updating to Monterey I was psyched because the battery performed so well. Apple needs to address this problem and not put on the blame of an old battery. The change was immediate and has nothing to do with the battery settings as they were exactly the same.

Exactly the same issue - wonder if class action would make apple listen to the issues they have created with an operating system.

When I switch the laptop on in the mornings, the battery is 1-2%. This has only started happening since updating to Monterey. Also, there are many other issues with the OS too.

When I contacted Apple customer services, they told me it was probably an old battery which needs replacing. Really?! Utter rubbish because, it is only 3 years old, and battery health is showing as normal!!

Blame something other than Apple's stupidity. Blame the customer, blame the Chinese made MacBooks, maybe blame the Chinese made battery? Its never Apple. They are too precious to take the blame, and they will start to lose sales soon.

Thinking of buying Asus soon and moving away from the Apple environment.
