How to make a HomePod default speaker on AppleTV.

It doesn’t give me the option to add a default speaker. On the TV I can add the home pod as a temporary speaker but not permanent. On the home app it doesn’t show any home pods. Both devices are the newest hardware, fully updated and part of the same home and owner….
